I’m writing this from home, fully connected to my shared work drives, office emails, crm and all the other software tools I use when I’m in the office on my laptop which, by the way, I undocked from my desk quite simply before theĀ ‘Beast from the East’ arrived. Even my calls are being diverted to my home number.
The only things I’m missing are the free snacks by the kitchen and the gentle buzz of people activity that usually surrounds me in the office. Fortunately, neither of those nor the Beast from the East has managed to stop me from working hard these past two days.
The great advantage of being part of a technology company that, admittedly, I take for granted (until I’m reminded by days like today) is that it’ll take a heck of a lot more than a Siberian Storm with a fancy name to prevent me (us) from doing good business for our partners.
It’s on days like today, when the swirling blizzards white-out my home office window and the howling winds remind me that the service we deliver for our partners is valuable. It keeps people connected and protected, offering comfort and reassurance against external factors that are beyond their control.
We can’t control the weather; but we can control the network, the connections, the connectivity, the information, the tools and the knowledge.
Through technology, we are able to adapt quickly to extreme conditions to prevent downtime in our business – and by way of extension and the services we offer – prevent downtime to your business.
Everything I’ve talked about here is the kind of service we offer our partners. And on days like this, surrounded by an angry storm with a penchant for rudeness and disruption, I feel proud that the hundreds of businesses, schools and local authorities that we look after could have carried on regardless – remotely.
Safe Journeys All!
