Are the cables in your building as safe as they could be?

New BS6701:A1-2017 standard to be applied to all UK cabling projects

Are the cables in your building as safe as they could be? Specifically, is it fire resistant and does it meet the latest standard?

If not, you could be prosecuted or, worse still, putting lives at risk.

If the saddening tragedy of the Grenfell fire could be said to have served any purpose, it would be that it brought much needed light to a very important question that will hopefully save many more lives in the future: were any corners cut in the design of the building that ended up putting lives at risk?

If so, it could be argued, that the buck stops squarely at the foot of the man or woman who specified that building and cut those corners.

It goes without saying that we, as specifiers, designers and installers should never trivialise the value of life or ever put it at risk by using inferior, unsafe products for the sake of saving a bit of money.

Especially if we are aware that a better, safer option exists.

BS6701:A1-2017: A New Standard for Data Cabling & Telecommunications Wiring

This little flyer is our effort to make sure that you are aware that a better, safer option exists and if you choose to ignore it, that buck stops squarely with you.

Raising awareness of standards can only be a good thing – a safer thing.

If your cabling spec (and subsequent design & installation) does not meet the recently published BS6701:A1-2017 UK specification, then someone, somewhere, is either unaware that the standards have changed or is willingly ignoring them.

Either way, is that the kind of person or company you want to be working with?

Download our guidance sheet by clicking the button below and make sure you (or your specifier) is up to standard.

If you need a second opinion on any project you have running, please contact us to ensure your building meets the minimum required UK standard.
