Advantex has won a five-figure contract to provide state-of-the-art digital surveillance and security technology at a County-Durham automotive bearings manufacturer.
The move sees the Follingsby Park-based firm supplying Peterlee’s NSK Bearing’s Europe with a new site-wide IP (Internet Protocol) Milestone IP surveillance system, complete with more than 50 high-resolution Axis access control cameras. These have been linked to a new operator control station, providing full perimeter surveillance capabilities and improved safety and security for the 100-strong factory workforce.
A key feature of the work completed by Advantex has been the installation of a new digital network infrastructure and fibre optic cabling over an ageing analogue system together with an uninterruptible power supply. This approach has provided ‘significant’ cost and time saving benefits while minimising disruption to day-to-day site operations.
The deal, which included turnkey system design, installation and commissioning services and an ongoing package of service and maintenance support, paves the way to possible further work for Advantex at Peterlee as NSK considers integrating two other neighbouring plants with the new system.
Located on the South West Industrial Estate, NSK is a leading precision manufacturer of automotive ball bearings, roller bearings and bearing units, supplying many of the world’s major car and vehicle companies.
The site is seen as a focal point for NSK’s UK operations and the tech investment will improve on-site security and safety for employees, said Advantex account manager Steve Dobby.
He added: “We have provided a high-quality solution that secures NSK’s needs for the foreseeable future; in the process delivering demonstrable cost savings and operational benefits. The project also showcases our expertise and leaders in IP and surveillance technologies for regional manufacturers.
“Once again, we are excited to be working for another North East manufacturer and delighted to expand our presence on the South West Industrial Estate, where we also work for ZF Controls and Caterpillar Articulated Trucks.”
The contract comes on the back of other recent wins to install new network systems at County Durham garden furniture supply company, Maze and Washington door manufacturer, Portico Doors as well as projects worth over £2 million earlier this year, helping schools and academy trusts access funding to refresh their Wi-Fi under the DfE’s ‘Connect the Classroom’ programme.
